DISC for sales calls: how to pitch each buyer type
Every buyer has a type. Know it before you call. DISC is a widely used workplace model of communication styles, first described in 1928. It sorts people into four styles, and most people are a blend.
D: Dominance
Wants results, fast. Lead with the outcome, keep it short, give them control of the next step. Skip the small talk.
I: Influence
Wants energy and connection. Be warm, tell a story, mention who else uses you. Follow up in writing so the details do not get lost.
S: Steadiness
Wants trust and a calm plan. Slow down, explain how the change works step by step, and do not push for an answer on the first call.
C: Conscientiousness
Wants facts and accuracy. Bring numbers, be precise, send the details ahead and expect good questions.
